Downtown Lenoir's Leprechaun Chase Scavenger Hunt is back for round two, and the game starts today. It's free to play, so don't miss your chance to win!
The City of Lenoir Main Street Department organized the first Leprechaun Chase Scavenger Hunt last year as part of a pandemic pivot to new and different events. The chase was very popular, so staff decided to bring it back again in 2022.
"We had more than 200 teams sign up last year with an 87% completion rate with all the challenges," Main Street Community Engagement Coordinator Matthew Anthony said. "The event brought a lot of traffic into downtown. We’ve had many businesses ask if we were doing it again this year, because they saw a big increase in traffic during the event."
The Leprechaun Chase is a digital scavenger hunt with hidden clues and challenges in the Downtown Lenoir Business district. The game is free to play and limited to the first 500 participants. The hunt starts today, Thursday March 10. You can register and play until the chase ends on St. Patrick's Day Thursday, March 17.
Players have to find and complete a series of challenges to earn points in the game. Each challenge offers a set number of points for completion. Challenges range from GPS check-ins, riddles to solve, photos to capture, and hidden QR codes to find. Players complete challenges to earn points and bonus points are awarded for creativity within the challenges in the event of a tie. Staff will announce the winners via Facebook on Friday, March 18.
Players can win more than $500 in cash and prizes.
