The City of Lenoir Parks and Recreation Department is seeking community input through a brief survey.
The survey is online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/LenoirRecSurvey.
The survey asks questions such as "How far do you live from a park?", "What recreational activities do you participate in frequently?", and "How would you rank the City's current recreation facilities, parks, and programs?"
In addition to the online survey, Parks & Recreation Staff are holding a public input session from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday, April 4, 2022, at the Lenoir Aquatic & Fitness Center (LAFC). The public can drop by any time during the session and share their thoughts about the City's recreation programs. LAFC is located at 1031 Jim Barger Dr NE.
"Public input will help us plan future improvements and programming," Parks & Recreation Director Kenny Story said. "It will also help as we seek funding opportunities through the North Carolina Parks & Recreation Trust Fund Grant program."
The City Parks & Recreation Department currently manages three recreation facilities including the Lenoir Aquatic & Fitness Center, Martin Luther King Jr. Center, and Mulberry Recreation Center.
The City's recreation centers offer various amenities including pools, basketball and tennis courts, ball fields, exercise and weight rooms, racquetball and pickle ball courts, walking tracks, the greenway, gyms, playgrounds, and more. Staff offer youth sports programs including baseball, softball, basketball, and wrestling.
The department also partners with private instructors to offer aerobics, pottery, taekwondo, and gymnastics classes.
