Registration is still open for the City of Lenoir Summer Swim Club. Summer Swim Club will help participants become better swimmers and learn more strokes. The club will also compete in swim meets.
"If your child can doggy paddle and swim in the pool, but they need help to learn different strokes like the backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, this program will teach them those strokes," said Mikayla Gayheart, Senior Aquatic Specialist at the Lenoir Aquatic & Fitness Center. "The club will also participate in swim meets with other local swim teams."
Registration for the Summer Swim Club is open through Friday, May 27, 2022. Parents can register their children for the club at the Lenoir Aquatic & Fitness Center. The cost to participate is $45 for City residents and $55 for non-City residents.
Summer Swim Club will run from June 6 through July 30. Practice will be Monday through Thursday at the Lenoir Aquatic & Fitness Center. Middle and high school swimmers will practice from 8:30 to 10:00 am. Younger swimmers will practice from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
There will be several swim meets in June and July. The Lenoir Swim Club will compete against teams from Granite Falls, Valdese, McDowell, Black Mountain, and Forest City.
To participate, swimmers must be at least six years old on or before June 1, 2022. Swimmers cannot graduate high school at the end of the spring 2022 semester.
