The outdoor pool at the Lenoir Aquatic & Fitness Center (LAFC) will be open tomorrow, Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 1:30 to 5:30 pm for recreation swim. The slides will be closed.
Parks and Recreation Director Kenny Story said staff are waiting on the North Carolina Department of Labor to inspect the slides.
"The state inspectors are supposed to come Tuesday, so hopefully the slides will be open the following weekend," Story said.
The outdoor pool will be open for recreational swim again Saturday June 4, and then generally on Wednesdays through Saturdays from 1:30 to 5:30 pm as long as the center has enough staff and lifeguards.

"We did pick up a few more lifeguards, so we've been able to schedule more recreational swim times," said Autumn Moffett, LAFC Evening Secretary.
Once the outdoor pool opens, the indoor pool will only be used for the Summer Swim Club and lap swim if the outdoor pool temperature is too cold.
City Hall, recreational facilities, and the Recycling Center will be closed Monday, May 30, in honor of Memorial Day. The City will not pick up garbage Monday. The Monday route will be collected up on Wednesday, June 1. There will be no bulk collections next week.
The Lenoir Aquatic & Fitness Center is located on 1031 Jim Barger Drive NE. The center provides indoor and outdoor pools, a weight room, exercise classes, trail access, and more.
