2nd Annual Lenoir Bicycle Festival

Saturday, June 3, 2023

The Lenoir Bicycle Festival is a family-friendly event focusing on bicycling and outdoor activity. Held in Downtown Lenoir, the Lenoir Bicycle Festival gives everyone a chance to ride around on downtown streets, conquer obstacle courses and bike challenges, and visit all our great downtown shops and restaurants.

Time: The festival starts at 10:00 am and ends at 2:00 pm.

Free Ride Lane: There will be a free-ride lane around a downtown block that you can ride any time during the event.

Obstacle Courses: We'll have three obstacle courses on Main Street and West Avenue - two easy and one advanced. The obstacle courses will have rumble boards and humps, ramps, balance beams, seesaws, limbo bars and more. Riders can try out the courses all day. We may even change them up mid-event.

Time Trials with Prizes: A time trial course will be set up on West Avenue. Riders can attempt the time trial as many times as they want to get their best time. There will be five age groups. The fastest time in each group will win a free Family Summer Swim Pass to the Lenoir Aquatic & Fitness Center. The age groups are 5-6, 7-9, 10-12,13-15, and 16 and up.

Bicycle Safety Class: The Lenoir Police Department will host a Bicycle Safety class on North Main Street. Participants who complete the class will receive a free bicycle helmet while the last. The helmets are provided by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The Impossible Backwards Bicycle: The Impossible Backwards Bike (IBB). If you ride the IBB 12 feet without touching the ground, you win a prize!

Prizes! Everyone who comes to the festival can register to win a prize. Visitors should go to the information tent and ask for a ticket. Tickets are free and limited to one per person. You must be present to win.

Touch a Truck: The City Police, Fire, Public Works, and County EMS will have vehicles on site.

World Bicycle Day

In April 2018, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 3 as International World Bicycle Day. The resolution for World Bicycle Day recognizes "the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which has been in use for two centuries, and that it is a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transport."
